Control Union Certification

Commercial plastic recycling built around the commitments you've already made

We work with three core commercial buyer groups, plus the brand teams that need a long-term operating partner rather than a one-off transaction:

Packaging and CPG brands

Teams sourcing ocean-bound plastic material or plastic credits against a public commitment. You need verified material you can put into packaging — or credits you can defend in front of a board, a journalist, and an auditor. We supply both from the same certified operation, with documentation at every step.

ESG and sustainability teams
You are the team reconciling supplier data against CSRD, CDP, SASB, or internal Scope 3 frameworks. We produce the chain-of-custody documentation that passes third-party assurance because our own operation is the one being audited.
Procurement and sourcing teams
Teams specifying recycled feedstock — PET, HDPE (natural and color), PP, or LDPE. You care about spec consistency, lead time, volume, and traceability. We process material directly at La Vega on dedicated plastics lines and export to the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
Brand program owners
Brand program owners Packaging and sustainability teams that want a named partner for multi-year initiatives, not a spot transaction. ORG can structure long-term programs around verified recovery, recycled material supply, and reporting support.

Most "ocean plastic" suppliers don't touch plastic

This is the part of the sustainability market nobody wants to say out loud: a significant portion of the ocean-bound plastic sold to brands is sold by intermediaries. Certificate brokers. Marketing layers on top of other people's facilities. Companies that have never seen a bale leave a plant.

That works until it does not. A journalist asks where the material was processed. An auditor asks for a chain-of-custody document. An investor asks who the verifier was. A supply disruption hits and there is no backup because the "supplier" was actually a sales layer on top of somebody else's operation.

ORG's position

Ocean Recovery Group is not that supplier. ORG is the operator behind the certificate: named facility, owned process, audited chain of custody, and a commercial team that can put the operation into procurement language.

Why the DR matters

Collection where ocean-bound plastic actually exists

The Dominican Republic is not a symbolic origin story. It is a real recovery environment with meaningful ocean-leakage risk and the operational context required for verified intervention. That is why ORG's recovery model is rooted in named Caribbean infrastructure rather than generic sustainability language. Explore Verified Recovery Projects →

Verified by the people who audit the auditors

There are certifications that signal real operational rigor, and there are certifications you can buy in an afternoon. Ocean Recovery Group holds the former.

ZPO

Zero Plastic Oceans Ocean-Bound Plastic Recovery Certification

ORG is the first U.S.-headquartered company to achieve ZPO certification across all three value chains: collection, recycling, and neutralization. That requires independent proof that ocean-bound plastic is collected ethically, managed correctly, traced through the process, and handled properly when the material is not commercially recyclable.

Control Union

Independent third-party verification

Control Union served as the auditor for ORG's ZPO certification process and remains the third-party verification layer your ESG team will want to see in disclosures, diligence files, and reporting frameworks.

ZPO is the standard. Control Union is the auditor. That is the structure procurement and sustainability teams should be asking every ocean-plastic supplier to produce.

Built for the procurement conversation and the sustainability report

For every commercial engagement, Ocean Recovery Group provides the assets buyers actually need to move a project forward internally.

A named point of origin

Your material — or the material backing your plastic credits — is processed at a specific facility we own and operate. That gives your procurement and disclosure teams a named operating reference rather than a vague program claim.

Certified chain of custody

Every step from collection to export is documented against the ZPO standard and audited by Control Union, supporting the files your sustainability and compliance teams will request.

Social impact documentation

As a social-business enterprise, ORG commits 10% of net profits to community development in the Dominican Republic, including work with Mission International Rescue Charities for youth sports programming and documented labor criteria for waste collectors.

Material flexibility

Recycled material including PET, HDPE, PP, and LDPE in baled or ground form, sold into the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Food-grade processing capability is in development and should be confirmed before sales use.

Plastic credits when reformulation is not ready

For brands unable to reformulate packaging immediately but still committed to verified plastic action, ORG can support plastic credit pathways backed by the same operating environment.

U.S.-headquartered commercial relationship

Ocean Recovery Group is headquartered in Florida with processing operations in the Dominican Republic, giving buyers a U.S.-based commercial counterpart and Caribbean operating infrastructure.
